Rainforest floor

The hot and humid rainforest is not only an ideal place for plants, but also a great place for bacteria and other microorganisms to thrive. Things decompose very quickly on the forest floor. Nutrients in the soil are either absorbed by the fast growing plants or washed out by the frequent rains. Soils on rainforest floor are usually very acidic and poor in nutrients.

Feel the compost
With leaves and other organic material, you can make your own composit pile. The plant materials are broken down by bacteria. The temperature inside the compost can be very high since bacteria generate heat as they break down the plants.
