Jackfruit
Artocarpus heterophyllus, MoraceaeJackfruit is the world largest tree-borne fruit. It can weigh more than 100 lbs! Because of their large sizes, jackfruits are usually grown directly from the main branches and the trunk. Each jackfruit is developed from multiple ovaries so it is a compound fruit like a pineapple. The tree is monoecious so each tree produces both male and female flowers. They can be pollinated by wind or insects.
